New Zealand Connections:2010
From New Zealand Connections
2010. New year, New Connections.
What can we say? New Zealand Connections has been here for the last two years now! It's been a great community effort - we've grown quite a bit!
We've now grown so big that the ADSL Broadband table alone covered more than 700 plans! We've covered all the major ones and some regional and smaller providers too!
But what's really changed? Apart from the spruce up we had with the tables, not much really. While we've got great data, a lot of our other pages haven't really been touched since we began two years ago.
So from today and into 2010, we're putting a lot of effort into providing the best information and experience on New Zealand Connections.

Plan Finder
To provide everyone the best experience, we've now launched Plan Finder
Plan Finder replaces the old Plan and Pricing Comparison tables.
Big doesn't always mean better. You've probably noticed that our servers take a hit when loading big pages like the ADSL Broadband table - that's because we're using the same wiki platform to do all the calculation and processing. Poor old thing. So we're changing that.
A new setup with Plan Finder means our servers only host data in a simple tabular form with no pre-processing required, and with Plan Finder you get a dynamic table with great sorting and filtering thrown in (plus a few effects too :))
New features like visual indicators help make comparing a whole lot easier.
Right now, only the Telephone Pricing Comparison tables and the Mobile Data table have been moved over. It's a lengthy task to manually move the tables, and at the same time we're updating them too. We'll be shifting the rest over the next 2 months.
The pages for the data tables haven't been revealed yet - we're also working on Plan Finder Editor, which will also use the Plan Finder interface for editing - making it much easier to edit than the current implementation. Hopefully people won't get scared with the wiki language now :)
It's still a little rough on the edges, so if you've got anything to say, post it on our forum.
New rich text editor
What's the use in just having one easy-to-use editor for just Plan Finder?
We know that wiki language isn't the easiest to edit. While being a wiki is good, a lot of people are scared of the dashes here and curly braces there.
A rich text editor has now been installed to provide a familiar feel when editing pages.
Editing is now as simple as typing, selecting, and clicking! No more messy wiki text - just plain old what-you-see-is-what-you-get.
Refreshed provider and help pages
From 2010, we'll be rolling out new look provider pages and updating a lot of content
We can't really say much, but from 2010, we'll be introducing a new format of provider pages.
Right now we've only put sections of information and links which look boring and plain.
That'll change - and we think you'll like it.
Help pages are also going to be refreshed and filled with more useful content too!
Leaner, meaner main page
You probably don't care about it - and we don't really.
But you might like to know that our new Main Page is way faster and also has some special effects built in too! We've built it from the ground up, so we hope you like the better experience.
