Cannot make calls (VFNZ GSM UTMS)
From New Zealand Connections
Introduction
Voice calls are the traditional use of mobiles. Mobiles have the ability to call other cellphones, landlines or international lines where you can speak to a person on the other end.
Possible Reasons
- New SIM card
- Coverage
- Credit (prepaid)
Steps
- Is this a SIM card? Have you ever made voice calls from this card - if you haven't - it may not have been set up correctly.
- To determine coverage - usually looking in the top left or right hand corner will reveal a signal meter. If you have no signal on that meter, you will most likely experience issues.
- Is your phone set to 3G or 2G mode only? If it is, you may not be in the right coverage area, try setting to automatic or 2G (2G coverage tends to have better coverage).
- If you have a prepaid connection, check your balance by calling 777.
At this point, you'll need to call Vodafone. Call 777 from your mobile or 0800800021 if you are calling from a Telecom mobile or landline..
